After the Rain
Artist’s Statement
After the Rain is a zine about mental recovery in the face of sickness. My agoraphobia worsened after a COVID infection entered my life, and I used mushroom hunting to encourage myself back outdoors in a way that didn’t involve close encounters with strangers. As an Environmental major, I enjoy time in nature, but I also pursue drawing, photography, and writing on the side while studying science. I am particularly drawn to fantasy, detective mystery, and science-fiction, so writing about myself for this zine was new for me.
