Artist’s Statement
Last summer, watching the hummingbirds in my backyard became my sanctuary. Everything felt so uncertain in life, especially with the pandemic. But having peace of mind in this space allowed me to find new opportunities. I attribute the hummingbirds to leading me to new things and teaching me patience. The process of creating this zine began with the story of my experience last summer. I made Humming with a collage method, drawing the lines and water coloring by hand, then scanning my physical master files into photoshop and adding the hummingbird and moth linocut designs.
Bio: Rebecca Jackson is a printmaker and multidisciplinary artist based on Virginia. She is a senior graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Printmaking in May 2021.
